Nonlinear Control Via PDC: The TORA System Example

In this paper, we consider the nonlinear benchmark problem. First, we construct the Takagi-Sugeno model using sectorization of the nonlinearity. Then by utilizing the concept of "parallel distributed compensation", we present the design of the fuzzy controller. The design procedure we adopt is to convert the design of the controller to a linear matrix inequality (LMI) problems so that the stabilty of the whole system can be assured. Finally,we can also specify the performance of the controller by using the LMI technique.
